ADULT WORKSHOP

Join me at my studio for a stunning adult workshop as we transform a slab of clay into a gorgeous natural work of art. Designed to both inspire and delight your senses, together in the studio we will learn how to tell a story of botanical beauty as you discover the magic of flower and local flora casting. In this workshop I will guide you through the technical journey of learning bas relief- a really beautiful means to capture form and light through sculpture. You will discover how to prepare a cast, learn how to mix plaster, fill your clay impression and work with plants to capture a sense of depth and movement. These casts are absolutely stunning works of art that tell a story.

As the plaster sets, we will gather for tea and conversation in good company.

Next… the magical reveal! Oh I love a reveal moment! Studio guests will peal away their clay and discover the beauty of their plaster cast. Guests will also learn how to clean and fine-tune plaster to finish their pieces. This workshop will inspire you to immerse yourself in the enchanting world of flower foraging and casting.

This session is suitable for everyone. A selection of foraged foliage will be supplied, however I recommend that you also bring some blooms and plants, which are personal to you if you feel called to do so. They can be wildflowers, flowers from the florist, leaves and grasses, ferns, seedpods or anything from the botanical world that can be carefully selected and pressed. Please note that flowers and plants must be living and not dried.

THE ART OF BOTANICAL CASTING INTRO CLASS

DATE: WEDNESDAY MAY 29, 2024

STUDIO TIME: 5:30PM-8PM (2.5 HOURS)

INVESTMENT: $120 + HST

DETAILS: This class is perfect for anyone who wants to learn this art form in the evening in a 2 hour course. Guests will leave with a stunning all-white cast.

THE ART OF BOTANICAL CASTING ADVANCED CLASS

DATE: SATURDAY JUNE 1, 2024

STUDIO TIME: 1PM-4:30PM (3.5 HOURS) HALF DAY, AFTERNOON

INVESTMENT: $200+ HST

DETAILS: This class is perfect for anyone who wants to learn this art form in a more in-depth course. The technique in this course will be slightly different and guests will learn how to make a sage blue-green colour-tinted cast. Students will also experience a demo to learn other botanical colouring techniques within this method.

AGES 18+
